Coming Together

Posted by TYoung001 on June 16, 2016 at 11:30 PM

The 2016-2017 school year brings changes for the St. John Central family. The grade school and the high school are coming together. Both will be housed in the current St. John Central High School building.

There are many positive aspects to this consolidation. Under the leadership of Mrs. Leonard, we intend to build a stronger curriculum. Being in the same building will give students the opportunity to take advanced classes. Currently we have an advanced math program, and we hope to expand this to other areas of the curriculum. Mrs. Heisler will be developing a curriculum to include foreign language classes for the middle school students as well as the high school students. With the growth of technology of late, we will expand lessons to be more student centered and student guided through the use of computers and other devices. We will utilize the expertise of Mrs. Sivert and Mr. Berher to build a stronger performing arts program. Plans include rebuilding the marching band and developing a drama department. It’s been many years since the grade school has had a religious sister as part of the faculty. Sister Pat will be teaching middle school as well as high school religion classes.

The excitement is growing with the new school year drawing closer.  The nervous feelings of the unknown and unfamiliar competes with the idea of a new environment and possibilities of what the new school year holds.  No matter what we feel, we can be sure that the tradition of our Catholic education and our faith and trust in God will lead us in this new venture.  We are St. John Central Grade and High School. We are Irish Strong!
